Alphabitty Moments--Week 14

Created by Carrie over at her campground, Alphabitty Moments is designed to preserve our cherished family memories without being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of photos.  Once a week we all publish an idea for a single letter of the alphabet.  Some of create scrapbook layouts; some of use Blurb's Booksmart software, and some of us simply post the photo.  All of us include our special memories attached to the photo that make it worthy of preservation.  Wanna join in?  C'mon!  We'll loop back through the entire alphabet again...just jump in!

This week is the letter N, and I have strayed somewhat from creating a book to help Nick learn his alphabet.  NAVIGATING may be somewhat challenging for a toddler!  But this particular road trip was so wretched, yet so fun in its own sadistic way, that it just had to be preserved!  Epic, for sure. What is normally a 10 1/2-11 hour trip for us was 13 1/2 hours on the way home, because everyone on the Eastern seaboard was headed North that Sunday afternoon.  We finally arrived home at 1 a.m., having left at 11 a.m. the previous morning.  Yet no one whined.  No one cried (not even the baby!).  No one fought, asked to stop a bazillion times, or queried after when we'd be "there."  We gave in to the gridlock, and ended up having a perfectly enjoyable trip home.

Jim had been on a hot dog fast for the previous three months--only those of you who know Jim can appreciate that kind of sacrifice. The man really did need a sticker for the back of his truck that said, "Will brake for hot dogs!" Food you can buy on the street or in a gas station has never really appealed much too me, but as you can see, he is loving his hot dog while in line at McD's for the rest of us. I also tried to capture some of the gadgets that make road trips easier these days: the EZ Pass, the Garmin, and of course the iPod. The kids only watched one movie that trip, so instead of the DVD player, I decided to capture the brotherly love in the close quarters.  And of course, we needed a shot of the brake lights...there were plenty to choose from!

Don't forget to mosey on over to MamaBear's and view everyone else's N's.  They're a creative group!

  7. Great job! I loved your layouts. I think the best part of road trips is the journey, myself.
