My favorite season here in New England is fall. Having lived all over the country, I cannot imagine a more perfect place to experience apple orchards, baking with apples picked in said orchards, leaf raking, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, smelling smoke in the crisp autumn air from leaves burning or fires in fireplaces. But all of this recreation comes with a hefty price tag: by November, we are almost knee-deep in the brightly colored debris left by the fiery ornaments that once dotted the landscape. We try to make the fall clean-up fun. This year we finally invested in a leaf blower, and once the leaves are formed into mountainous piles, letting the kids jump in them was far less painful than it had been in the past. Literally painful. These nearly forty year old bodies of ours don't bounce back quite as quickly from a week of raking--seriously, it took a week the old-fashioned way. If we were incredibly industrious! I love these shots because they totally capture the fun of the day. My "jumping in the leaf pile" snapshots were too blurry to use. But I love the joy on Gabe's and Jack's faces in these pics. I love fall!
Wanna see more alphabitty moments? Mosey on over to Carrie's campground and see what my partners in crime have created! I am getting so excited to see this book finished! This has been sooo much fun. I'm thrilled MamaBear thought of it!

ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! We don't get much fall here. The joke about Florida's seasons: almost summer, summer, not summer but really hot, and February.

I love this L too. I especially love the action shot.
ReplyDeleteI also chose Leaves! Oh how I love giant leave piles and kids laughing and throwing them up in the air! Great pictures!!
ReplyDeleteLeaves!!! Now there is a good L!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous!!!! I want apple orchards and pretty leaves!!!
ReplyDeleteJust starting to make my rounds to see everyone's pages.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of leaves! I love Fall too - even more now that we don't have to rake leaves. For the most part they all blow away and living in a park where they prefer things in their natural state has it's perks.
I really should be taking notes for next go round. Everyone has such great ideas! I too am really looking forward to printing my books. We'll have to do a show and tell when they're done.
