Not Me! Monday

Brutal honesty, because motherhood ain't always pretty! Don't forget to head on over to MckMama's site and see what everyone else has NOT been doing! Where else can you get a glimpse of all the stuff the recruiters leave out of the parenting brochure?

This week I most certainly did NOT decide to have my children photographed sans shoes when it came time for a photo session, because after a snowy season, their shoes were too ratty-looking to appear in a portrait. Nope! NOT me! I was making an artistic statement with their bare feet. Yup. We all know how creative I am (NOT!)

And I did NOT allow encourage my 13-year-old son to use duct tape to hold his newly broken boot together, because the sole separated from the top of the shoe just as we were heading out to dinner with my parents. There was absolutely NO need for duct tape, of course, because I am a master-packer and packed more than one pair of shoes for each of my four children just in case. Or, better yet, I am certainly organized and observant enough to notice that my son's shoes were not long for this world, so I replaced them before embarking on this trip. Nope, sadly, NOT me!

I also did NOT make a serious miscalculation when it comes to the zoo's ability to engage my vastly developmentally diverse offspring. As a result, my 13 year old's running commentary did NOT ruin a lovely Saturday afternoon trip for the gaggle of toddlers and their wide-eyed, overprotective, and apparently adolescent (from the looks of them) parents, who had the misfortune to plan their outing for the same day we were there. NO WAY! The zoo is fun at any age! My 6 month old did NOT scream in horror from his Baby Bjorn as a giraffe neared the observation deck to eat from my hand. And, finally, my 8 year old did NOT ask when we were leaving 30 minutes and 47 dollars into this excursion! Nope. Didn't happen. My New England family was all just happy to have weather that would permit an outdoor excursion on Valentine's Day!

This weekend, my husband did NOT suggest that the house was beginning to look like a portrait studio as I hung the latest 3 pictures of the boys. He totally understood my need to photograph the brothers before one or more of them is shaving--NOT! (PLUS, when your home is covered in wallpaper like this....
...you do what you can to cover it up! Why we haven't permanently addressed these aesthetic offenses, I don't know. This decor is definitely NOT ME!)

And,finally, I did NOT makeover my blog this week...seriously, NOT ME! My dear friend's, (Caryn's), friend and fellow twin-mommy, Jen, did. Doesn't it look fabulous? She is so creative and html-savvy! I could NOT be more impressed! Thanks Jen, for taking away the tedium of blog maintenance and making it fun again! YOU ROCK!

Hmm...I wonder if the fact that my "Not ME!" posts are always my blog's longest entries is cause for concern? I'll think about that tomorrow. What's NOT going on with you?

  6. Love the blog, mom of all boys here too. Only 4 years of dirt and noise and counting. I hate it when you plan this great day and pay quite a bit only for everyone to end up hating it, why are boys so weird anyway? See you around Mcmama's place

I enjoyed reading about your family's adventures (until I got to a spider and had a mini panic attack) Ha!

  8. Great post. I have boys as well. Gotta admit the spider on your blog almost got me. I hate bugs and we've got lots of them where I live. So far all I've been brought is a rolly-polly thank goodness!
