Alphabitty Moments--Week 6

It's Thursday, so it's time to join MamaBear in preserving family moments, those fleeting glimpses into our children's childhoods that are expiring much faster than I want to admit!

Introducing the letter F...

Every time I hear someone say, "The letter F," I think of The Letter People from Kindergarten. Does anyone else remember those guys? My teacher, Mrs. Dooley, had inflatable letter people who would join us at carpet time. They each had silly songs to help you remember their sounds, and Mr. F had funny feet. (In retrospect it strikes me as particularly sexist, especially for the mid-70's, that only the vowels were girls. After all, there are only 5. Okay, "and sometimes 6". The rest were boys!) Anyway, I really liked the song about Mr. F., "Cause he's got funny feet, funny feet, funny feet, funny feet..." Sadly that is all I remember.

Normally, feet creep me out.  They are among the ugliest appendages...and living with boys' sweaty socks has done little to cure me of this aversion. But, baby feet: I adore them! The juxtaposition of Nicholas's adorable little feet in the first picture with his teen brothers'  gargantuan clodhoppers nearly grown-up feet makes me think of a story my mom always tells--you know the type, the ones that embarrass you now. (I got off lucky, though; at least she didn't blog about them!) When I would get new shoes as a preschooler, I would march around the yard chanting, "They're big like my feet! They're big like my feet." Entertaining kids was certainly simpler (and cheaper) before video games!

The addition of Nicholas's "funny" face was a late one...I snapped this shot playing with digital SLR again.  He has a habit of sucking in his lower lip while teething.  He looks so ornery here!
